Last Friday marked a ‘first’ for the Coshocton County Career Center. Eighteen students in the school’s Early Childhood Education program competed for the chance to represent their school and program in the 65th annual FCCLA Skills Contests, set to take place at Granville Middle School on Saturday, March 3. Coshocton County Career Center Cosmetology seniors Anisha Seitz and Paige Hamilton teamed up to create the winning spa pedicure display basket for a recently held merchandising contest in their program.
Several juniors and seniors in the Cosmetology program at the Coshocton County Career Center recently took part in an optional challenge to show-off their product merchandising skills. Teams of two and three put together a spa pedicure display basket designed to entice salon visitors to book a spa pedicure and purchase related products. Continue reading

In all, Career Center students, along with others from Coshocton, Ridgewood and River View high schools, sorted and packed 550 holiday food boxes for distribution to residents in need.
Juniors and seniors in Culinary Arts, Criminal Justice and Cosmetology spent this morning sorting donated food and filling holiday food boxes for community residents. The effort was part of an annual community service project organized by the Coshocton Salvation Army. In addition to students from the Career Center, other high schoolers, representing specific clubs from Coshocton, Ridgewood and River View high schools also took part. Hayhurst was nominated for his fair and balanced coverage of career-technical secondary education in Coshocton County.
On behalf of his work in promoting the Coshocton County Career Center, the Ohio School Boards Association has named local Coshocton Tribune staff writer Leonard Hayhurst to their 2011 Media Honor Roll. This two-day activity, which took place Dec. 12 and 13, is part of a career readiness initiative at the middle school.
In a continuation of their career development work within the Ridgewood Local School District, representatives from the Coshocton County Career Center took the district’s sixth grade students through a two-day career discovery activity on Monday, December 12th and Tuesday, December 13th. The activity allowed the eleven and twelve year olds the chance to learn about four career-tech programs at the Career Center, as well as the opportunity to discover how their own personal interests and experiences might map to potential careers of interest. Approximately 350 county sophomores came to the Coshocton County Career Center for a special visit designed to give them more information about training for specific career-technical jobs of the future. Ninety fourth-grade students at Ridgewood Middle School spent their Social Studies class period exploring careers that might fit their interests and getting a little hands-on experience in two of them. Kathy Blust, fourth-grade teacher and the school’s guidance counselor Leslie Dulgar coordinated a special career exploration activity, which involved students and staff of the Coshocton County Career Center on Friday, November 18th. Getting to go off-campus to practice what you’re learning was a great part of the Natural Resources program. Coming to CCCC gave me a chance to learn how to get along with all sorts of people. The clients I work with now are all very different so this helped me a lot.
